Does ineffable mean that you don't give an eff?
I think that given your context it must mean that I'm able not to give an eff.
But in my context, at this time of year, I'm not prepared to lend, let alone give, an elf. :xhumbug:

Geoff, you brought gloom to my Christmas Morning. My eyes are tearing up, my nose is running.

You failed to mention our high-school canteen morning delicacy: Snot Block. :xsad:

Cheers, Chris :xgrin:

Thank you Chris! I had quite forgotten the snot block- memories of an Aussie primary school tuckshop delicacy came tumbling forth. Still working out whether they are good memories..................

Easily ameliorated.
Just count the number of fillings in your teeth, add to that the count of extractions, divide that total by 32(1) and report the results as a percentage.
When you're as old as I am, you can get a rough estimate each morning by counting the number of remaining teeth and dividing that count by 32.

At the 50% mark it's time to experiment with a full extraction and a set of dentures.

I shall refrain from asking if this is the first time your friend has been a contributor to a Haggis.
Likewise your tastes are said to be ineffable. :munch:

Even more woe! Walkers (Lay, to you, maybe) have announced the discontinuance of Marmite crisps! The supermarket shelves have been stripped by distraught Marmite-crisp lovers.

Speaking of haggis, and apologies if I've mentioned this before at this time of the year...

For a couple of weeks now the boards mounted on the sign outside our local farm shop that advertises their in-season wares has read:
        Haggis
    Logs and kindling

Ken
PS it won't be long before they are likely to say:
        Rhubarb
    Logs and kindling

OMG Geoff! Thanks for the reminder. I haven't thought of PDQ Bach in ... [more fingers and toes than I have] years! It was lovely to have a refresher course and a good laugh, too.
I came across a Youtube recording of a PDQ Bach concert, presented by his creator Peter Schickele. I was surprised that he was still doing PDQ Bach concerts, and in fact, this to commemorate 40 years.

I looked up Peter Shickele- and discovered that he died just a few weeks ago, on January 16 this year, aged 88.
