I gather up a few Aussies for lunch gatherings, 3 - 4 times per year, and one of them was a Perth lady who now is close to the age of 100. I bet she has some knowledge of those times and will send the link to her.

Graeme, the number didn't see unusually high. At least if they were fighting with both fists they weren't drinking in the streets. And since the Six o'clock swill wasn't introduced until the Great war, and W.A. didn't have it anyway, well, ... I've lost my train of thought! Must be the booze!!

BTW The short video in that link has a good sample of Croweaters accents.
