Thanks. It's an attempt at dispelling the gloom of today. We nearly put the light on as we sat and ate our lunch at about 1:00pm.

It's is still raining here and the forecast is for it to continue raining until tomorrow morning.

Deep joy.

A nice picture Ken.

I always feel left out in these discussions about the seasons.

You can reminisce about your autumn half a year ago, or look forward to the next one...

But I can't go out and take an autumn picture!

Where I live, the winters are fairly mild, and Australian native vegetation predominates. This has the downside that autumn colours are sparser and less intense. And there are not so many of the spring bulbs like tulips or daffodils.

The upside is that winter is bearable. And being coastal, the summer heat is subdued.

You win some, you lose some...

We have lovely autumn colors here, but it's a far cry from those in New England, and also from those in the Baltic states, for example, where large temperature differences between day and night in autumn cause a riot of deep red and yellow colors.
Best wishes,
Hans

Nice image, Ken.
Autumn here is in full swing as we head towards winter. Forecast today is snow with very strong winds. Mid September to mid May is regarded by me as 'winter' but they do say that in Norway we have only two season's ... August and winter.

:flee: We are at planning stage to have a break in Queensland, Australia, next year to see that yellow ball in the sky

That reminds me of a story my mother often told, about an Australian who visited our house during the winter. After a couple of days of typical UK grey skies, the sun came out, prompting my mother to exclaim, "Isn't it great to see the sunshine", to which the Australian quickly rejoined, "That ain't sunshine, that's just light."

I like that story.

It's not just the clouds. England is so much further from the equator, so the angle of the sun is much lower. London is 51.5⁰N, Sydney 33.8⁰S.

We really noticed the intensity of the blue skies when we returned to Australia after several years in England.
