The Fish Head Nebula

Post by Graeme »

My attempts at fishing were dismal when we went away last week, so here's the Fish Head Nebula instead:

Fish_Head_03_SR_EL.jpg

The Fish Head is an Emission Nebula forming part of the larger Heart Nebula in Cassiopeia. Captured 14/10/23 in LRGB from 22:00 till my guiding packed up! The light wind had become a bit too gusty. 13 luminance frames, 6 red frames, 6 green frames and 5 blue frames all at 300 seconds. 2.5 hours total integration. The plan was to capture more data but we have nothing but wind and rain for the foreseeable now.

Thank you I enjoyed seeing that. It's huge improvement on the wind and rain out there at the moment.

Great photo!

Thanks Hans. It's not too bad for 2.5 hours data. And it is my 3rd attempt at processing it!

Glad to have cheered you up Ken! We have the same weather down here too now. I was hoping for another clear night or two for additional data collection but it didn't happen. And as sure as the Earth orbits the Sun, the choice of targets will change by the time it's clear again!
