The Artichoke joke

Post by ChrisGreaves »

The Artichoke joke:-
(1) Even people who don’t garden have a potato patch.
(2) Everyone in Bonavista recognizes a potato patch when they see one. “My grandpa used to grow all-uz potatoes” they say at age 85.
(3) So no-one is surprised to see my potato patch in the second driveway. (When I arrived here in 2019 I hadn’t owned a car for sixteen years, and argued that I didn’t need two driveways)
(4) But as people drive past they slow down and look at my healthy potatoes. This has been a grim year for spuds. Most people didn’t plant them because it was too wet and too cold for too long to get outside and dig and plant.
(5) “But” say the locals as they accelerate away in admiration, “say what you like about that Western Australian who bought Maude's place on Flat Tyre Avenue, he knows his spuds”.

(6) Today my “potatoes” are about two feet tall. Within three weeks they will be five feet tall on their way to nine feet tall, if last year is anything to go by.
(7) Which should leave the locals puzzled.
Chris :innocent:

Bob, I haven't a clue.
And if I *did* have something to pull it {with}, I'd be charged with theft.
The caravan is parked on a neighbour's lot.

Looking at the subject line, I thought this would be about the Little Rascals' Stymie when he was offered an artichoke:
