Very nice, Ken, but what is the purpose/meaning of the 'shading' above the tower, which looks a bit like black flames? :confused3:

It has no purpose or meaning. It arises from a lot of digital noise in the original photo, which is of the floodlit tower at night. I may yet be able to figure out how to clean it up.

Or you could just say it's artistic and leave it...

That does have a sinister and vampiric aura. :flee:

:whisper: the subject line also alludes to the fact that the architecture of York Minster is Gothic

That's wonderful Ken. I expect to hear a loud blast from a pipe organ in a minor key.

What's wrong with C# Minor? Or any other minor key? Why just a minor?

Eileen's lounge condemns that in a major way.

So I can't do the old, "What do you get when you chuck a piano down a mine shaft?", joke.

Pianos may certainly be chucked down mine shafts!
But not harpsichords...

That's debatable, especially as my handy harpsichord insider has mentioned on more than one occasion that persuading a harpsichord to stay in tune is no mean feat. He never goes near one without a tuning hammer in his pocket.

Meanwhile, the joke still works if you were to throw a harpsichord down a mine shaft.
