Following the heavy rain this week, the river is out of its banks.

It is a lot of water but it stayed within the flood defences in the village centre so that's good.

We need a comparison shot when the waters recede to normal, Ken.

Agreed. Great shot.
Very ethereal with its atmospheric lighting.

As requested. Note though that while the river is well within its banks again there are still bits of the fields that are more than just a bit squelchy.

Yes, there weather has changed considerably. Both yesterday and today have been very mild and sunny too! I hadn't realised how warm it was so I wore by big thick coat when we went out for a walk. It wasn't long before I had to unzip it because I was hot.

On the 13th of February it was -12°C (10°F) here, and on Wednesday (the 24th) it was up to 18.5°C (65°F). Quite a difference!
Best wishes,
Hans

Returning to this old thread from January last year, I've just reprocessed another photo I took that day.

Devastation looking very peaceful!

The difference is water levels is a good couple of metres by the look of it.

I think the river was about 2.5m above it's usual level when I took that picture. Not the highest its ever been though. That happened in 2000 and the mess that made finally forced the Env. Agency to build flood defences.
