Eileen's Daughter

Post by GeoffW »

I know that Eileen's children, of whom she was very proud, would be honoured to know that she is still remembered, especially in the new lounge named in her honour.

I located her daughter, who did pop in briefly in the early days of the Old Lounge.

I sent her the message
Was your mother Eileen Wharmby?

I knew her over the net as a part of Woody's Lounge. She did a great job there, and we were saddened by her death.

Do I remember that you popped in once or twice- as Pig?

You may be interested in a new web site set up in her honour- EileensLounge.com

Many people still have a great respect for her and what she did.

Geoff
I received a reply
Hi Geoff!
Yes, my mother was Eileen. I remember how much she loved Woody's Lounge, and how much it meant to her. I miss her very much. I'll definitely go have a look at EileensLounge. It makes me happy that people are keeping her in their thoughts and memories.
Thanks for telling me about the site.
So hopefully she will pop by- and perhaps pass on the word to her three brothers as well.

Holy Cow, Geoff - Good On Ya...

When we went live I was gonna ask Claude about Matt because I knew they used to be in contact, then I forgot.

I checked with Claude and Hans before I went further. They had both tried.

But I remember about "Pig" posting. I won't give a name. She may choose to contribute.

There are two other siblings apart from Pig and Matt.

And Dad used to produce TV and film. Like some episodes of OC.

Here's an update: "Pig" forwarded Geoff's message to at least one of her brothers. He sent the admins a lovely e-mail (real names omitted for reasons of privacy):
Dear Hans and all,

My sister *** (a.k.a. Pig) forwarded me a link to Eileen's Lounge from Geoff Whitfield (...).

I'd just like to say thank you for remembering our Mum in such a great way. We're very proud of her. I know she'd be overjoyed.

:-)

Isn't that great?
Best wishes,
Hans

Another son of Eileen has reacted too:
Hi Geoff -

My sister brought this to my attention - it's great to see the old avatar perpetuated in this way. I'm sure your new site will do justice to my mum and all the people she helped over the years - and it's fantastic to see so many people remembering her with fondness.

Thanks so much for naming the site in her honour - the legend continues!

Best wishes always to you and all who settle in Eileen's Lounge -

Cheers

What about a short note/(header/footer) on lounge index page, something like
The Lounge is founded & named in memory of beloved Eileen Wharmby (xxxx -forever) by mwolfman, HansV, xxx, xxx on xx/xx/xxxx
(does it matter if it is inspired from other lounge?)

The Admins of course will have to decide on your recommendation, but it might be a bit much since Eileen is in the prominent banner and a brief statement about "why" is in Hans' Welcome post here which does name the principals who created this place.

Sure, it is the discretionary power of Admins.

There may have some opinion differences but how many people, specifically guest, bother to read the Welcome Post? This gave me an idea to link this note to the Welcome Page. (BTW, is this page updated/edited recently Or had I missed this must read info. The name of Founder Member was not there when I first read the Welcome Page.)

The text of the "Welcome to Eileen's Lounge" message in Words From On High hasn't changed since we went live. Eileen has always been mentioned in it.
Best wishes,
Hans

Hi, it's Kate, Eileen's daughter.

Just to let you all know again how much this site means to me. I miss my mum very much, and it's so good to know that her memory lives on. Sometimes when I'm thinking of her, I Google her and read all her old messageboard posts. I imagine that if she knew I was doing that, she'd get a chuckle out of it.

Thanks again.

Kate
