What's Europe got to do with this thread about the WC? Ah yes, no other teams left.

Huh?
Is that why everyone gave me funny looks last Tuesday in the "Presse Cafe" when i kep yelling]"Cmon the socceroos!"?

Ah, that was the Swederland game.
ChrisGreaves wrote:Sweden plays in Australia's Gold colours?!!???

I think it's the other way around, but we don't see Australian teams very often.
(You/they can have the gold colours when we are using blue shirts; though me thinks they should avoid it, hint Ger-Swe.)

I understand that England, France and Croatia are still in the mix. And the other is, I think, Belgium?

@BobH: Yes. On Tuesday the 10th it's Belgium vs France, and on Wednesday the 11th it's Croatia vs England.
Best wishes,

My commiserations to England; hard work, great first half.

(I looked forward to a final between England and Belgium ... But it wasn't to be; but we'll get a third place, bronze, play-off. :belgium: :england: )
(I know it is really tough now for some, but it could be worse; our last final was in '58, and we were hosts but lost to Brazil with 5-2.)

We have some Loungers from France, but they don't participate (at least not actively) in Scuttlebutt. There might be Croatian Loungers, but I don't know of any.
Best wishes,
Hans

I have a tenuous connection with both nationalities.

My daughter has a Croatian partner, my nephew has a French partner.

Fortunately they both live a fair distance away from us. But I'll still claim that I have a reason for supporting that team, no matter who wins.

Besides, the games are at 4 am in our time zone. And it's the middle of winter. Sensible people won't be watching.

Chris is joking. He means it in the sense of "I traveled from France to Canada"...
