It seems dangerous, though, this football thingy.

As an Australian, I'm very disappointed.
As the husband of a Mexican, I am delighted.

"Hmm. What does this button do?" Said everyone before being ejected from a car, blown up, or deleting all the data from the mainframe.

Re: Soccer thingy
Considering the estimated worth of the French side, at $2 billion, and the Australian side at $20 million, I would expect a victorious France on the final scorecard at around 200:1!

I tend to agree but others differ. There is a famous quote by Bill Shankly of Liverpool FC,HansV wrote:Yikes! Football is just a game!

Colombians believe football is important. One World cup player was murdered after a World Cup own goal.stuck wrote:I tend to agree but others differ. There is a famous quote by Bill Shankly of Liverpool FC,HansV wrote:Yikes! Football is just a game!

The player, Escobar, was unfortunate to be living in the wrong place at the wrong time. Medellin at that time was under the grip of another more famous Escobar.

Well, that's a nice change.GeoffW wrote:...Probably the reason for your apathy ;-)
Usually stuff gets blamed on my ignorance.
I think I saw that we (France!) beat Australia, but then I thought I saw another item that said that France and Australia were both playing someone else.
Like kids who were sulking and refused to play with their BFF.
From which I deduced that neither team had been knocked out.
But the score I saw wasn't a draw, so somebody one.
So I went on the web and after puzzling over scores for five minutes realised that i was reading about something called "Qualifying" (see "ignorance" above).
This is why I don't follow sports. I generally can't see which way they are going.
Cheers

Generally, one team goes from left to right, and the other team goes from right to left. After the interval, they switch directions.
