USB Camera

Post by Graeme »

Hello.

It's been a while! I hope you're all well. Whilst I've been away I became interested in astronomy. I have a USB camera designed for astro images taken through a telescope (https://www.altairastro.com/GPCAM2-290C ... amera.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) The camera works well when connected to my laptop but I have now installed an old pc in the garage to control the telescope and camera. The pc sees the camera but the imaging software does not. (http://cameras.altairastro.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) I have uninstalled and tried again to no avail but I'm not sure if the camera driver which installs with the imaging software is being deleted at the uninstall stage.

Could anyone suggest please how I can ensure a complete uninstall, drivers too, in Windows 7 so I can try again with a clean install? Or, should I be looking at the problem from a different angle?

Thanks

Regards

Graeme

When did you connect the USB cable on the "Old PC"?

Hello DaveA

Thanks for the reply. There is a slim possibility that I connected the camera prior to installing the software even though it says not to in big red letters in the instructions! Hence the reason for wanting to ensure everything is removed before I try another install. Last night I had another attempt and definitely did things in the right order which leads me to think that the uninstall is not complete. If so, is there a utility that will hunt down all aspects of the installation? I used CCleaner.

If it's not that, is there a utility to check my USB ports? The garage pc is a new build of old parts! The motherboard and processor are hand me downs/ups from my son's upgrade project, the hard drive and Windows 7 install are new.

Thanks

Regards

Graeme

Fixed it!

There was a Windows.old folder on the hard drive which had the drivers in and I deleted it before another install attempt. It works now!

Thanks anyway. I'm off to set up for some full Moon imaging tonight.

Regards
