MicroSDHC Card Size
I've just bought a TDK microSDHC flash memory card and when I read it on my Windows 7 laptop(using the SD adapter provided with the card) its purported 32GB don't show when I look at the card properties, only 8GB are shown. What could the reason be?

Re: MicroSDHC Card Size
Plug in the card
Click on Win Start button and type: diskmgmt.msc into the search box
Activate Disk Management
Identify if the card has partitions (or is pre-partitioned)

Re: MicroSDHC Card Size
Where did you buy it? There has been a history of problems with eBay and other peer-to-peer sales site purchases that advertise larger capacity cards but provide low-cost, low-capacity cards, complete with convincing labels.
I was duped into buying an 8-GB Compact Flash card off eBay, only to find it's actual capacity was 1 GB. When I researched the issue on-line I found the problem was wide-spread.

Good catch Rudi
For PJ's benefit, today I went to a reputable, brick-and-mortar electronics store and bought it.
What do I do now to see the remaining 24GB?For PJ's benefit, today I went to a reputable, brick-and-mortar electronics store and bought it.

Re: MicroSDHC Card Size
Hi,
Having scanned around, it seems that these cards have a tendency to show incorrect capacities. Doing a standard format does not correct this, so deleting the primary partition and recreating it seems the way to go...from what I have seen. Please note that I am not an expert on this topic...I am just responding to what I have seen/read on the web regarding this... I would suggest that you wait for others to confirm the advice I am providing below...
This is the easiest to follow video I have seen to recreate the card partition. One can use Partition Managers to do this in a GUI, but using DISKPART in the command prompt seems easier as illustrated in the video...
Here is an article with steps too...

Re: MicroSDHC Card Size
Along the same line, I've just bought two MP3 players: this one and this one and they both don't work unless a Micro SD card is inserted so I've bought a 1GB SanDisk and now when I plug the USB lead in the pc, the card doesn't show up as a removable disk on Windows Explorer though the MP3 player lights up when I plug the USB lead and it does actually play the Micro SD contents; any reason why this is happening?

Re: MicroSDHC Card Size
Does your PC have a card reader? If so, what happens if you insert the SD card directly into the card reader?
Best wishes,
Hans

So, when you want to copy MP3 files from your PC to the SD card, insert the card into the card reader.
Best wishes,
Hans
