3 LCD TV's to one computer
Hey all, I'm putting together a small office for friends and he wants his office to have 3 - 32 inch lcd tv's hooked up to one computer. These TV's will more then likely be HD. I need them to work like dual monitors, the mouse can go back and forth thru ALL TV's.
Ideas?
Ideas?

Re: 3 LCD TV's to one computer
Don't understand. Does he want each monitor to be able to display different data? If so, this is going to be an educational thread for me, because I don't know how to do it. I've done it the other way with multiple computers using a single monitor, keyboard and mouse, but I don't know if Windows can have three different monitors defined and allow the user to choose which is used for what application. Not saying it's not possible, just that I don't know how.

Let's put it this way, I want to use 3 - 32" TV's as 1 screen. Dual monitors are pretty normal nowadays. You have 2 17" monitors that work as 1. Get it?

High-end video cards have two monitor ports. To support three monitors, you'll have to install two video cards in the computer - one for two monitors, the other for the third monitor.
Make sure the computer has plenty of memory.
I'd recommend installing Ultramon - this utility makes it easy to move applications between monitors.

If I use 2 video cards, I can use the 3 tv's like 1 long screen?

Re: 3 LCD TV's to one computer
If you have the hardware, XP and higher is suppose to support up to 32 monitors.

Yes, you can set up the 3 monitors to act as extended desktop.

I hardly dare mention this as I'm sure you know it already but in order to exploit 8Gb RAM you need a 64 bit OS don't you?mwolfman wrote:in a desktop with 8GB ram should work right?

A good article on memory limits for the various flavors of Windows is here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778(VS.85" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).aspx
Edited for whatever reason that link doesn't work? Yet when I paste it direclty into my browser, it works fine! ????

Re: 3 LCD TV's to one computer
If you surround the link with the [URL]tags, the whole link becomes available. If only the link is pasted, it is parsed up to the ")" as a hyperlink

Re: 3 LCD TV's to one computer
Truly speaking, you really don't have to even use the URL tag to get a link to be live. I've copied links and pasted them into a thread with no URL tag and the phpBB software handles them OK. Lemme try this one:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 85%29.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Works just fine for me. Bob may not have copied it correctly from the site. On the other hand, if you use Firefox and you want to make link selection really easy, get yourself a copy of this Fx addon: Leif's Post.

Re: 3 LCD TV's to one computer
When I paste the (correct) URL into a post and preview, the last part ).aspx is not included in the automatically generated hyperlink, making it invalid, exactly as in Viking33's post. It acts this way both in Internet Explorer 7 and in Firefox 3.6.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: 3 LCD TV's to one computer
Hmmm, I don't understand this one Hans. That's exactly what I did in the post just before yours. First, I manually visited the site Bob was referencing. While there I copied the whole URL to my clipboard. Then composing the above post, I simply pasted, with no tags and the resulting post worked OK.
Let me try it again in this one: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 85%29.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Looks OK in preview to me:
(I've corrected the typo ("composing") from the preview.)

Re: 3 LCD TV's to one computer
Apparently your system converts the parentheses in the URL to the corresponding HTML codes, while mine and Bob's don't. No idea what causes the difference.
Best wishes,
Hans
