I'm curios, because I can't remember:
Did WP51(DOS) support anything approaching Styles as we know them in Word, AmiPro, WordPro, WPWin etc.?
Anything that resembled a packaged shortcut to effect consistent formatting?
(Apart from a user-created Macro to effect formatting).
I'm inclined to think that it could not have, because the document was a serial string of data with formatting inserted along the "pipe", in place.

Re: Word Perfect 5.1 (DOS) styles
WordPerfect 5.0 introduced styles; you'd define a style as a series of formatting codes.
You could then block some text and apply the style. This would insert hidden codes [style on:mystyle] and [style off:mystyle] around the block.
The WP converter in Word converted WP styles to paragraph styles or character styles, as appropriate, but with some limitations.

Ah! Thanks Hans. I was wrong in my supposition that the WPDos structure wouldn't allow styles.HansV wrote:WordPerfect 5.0 introduced styles; you'd define a style as a series of formatting codes.
I now suppose that the closest Eileen's Loungers would get to it would be our practice of selecting text and then clicking on the "B", "I" or "U" or almost any other icon, "Code" being a good example.
