Adobe Flash security update 10.1.85.3

Post by TonyE »

Adobe have released a security update for the Flash Player (version 10.1.85.3), available from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (watch out for ride-along installs). Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 10.1.82.76 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and Solaris update to Adobe Flash Player 10.1.85.3

This fixes a critical vulnerability, as detailed here - Adobe Security Advisories: APSA10-03 - Security Advisory for Flash Player

The manual installers for Windows are available from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.h ... lInstaller" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you are using IE9 beta Adobe directs you to Adobe Labs - Downloads: Flash Player "Square" Preview Release.

Installed this latest Flash thanks.
Question ... should we completely uninstall all existing Flash components using the Uninstaller and then what's left over after reboot in System32/Macromed including the Flash folder. It seems that the Adobe Uninstaller does not remove 'all'.

I'm using Windows 7 (64-bit). After uninstalling both the ActiveX and the NPAPI versions from the Programs control panel, Flash was completely gone. But it won't hurt to delete the Flash folder manually after uninstalling.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks Hans ... yet again!
Whilst its easy to check the version already installed, its not so easy to find out on Adobe's Download page what version they are giving you if you download. Currently it just say's 10.1.
Are version download numbers shown somewhere?

The website itself doesn't mention the version of the downloads; presumably it will always be the most recent one.

If you download the stand-alone installers install_flash_player_ax.exe (the version for Internet Explorer) and/or install_flash_player.exe (the version for other browsers), you can see the version number by hovering the mouse pointer over the file in Windows Explorer, or by right-clicking the file, selecting Properties from the context menu, and activating the Details tab.
Best wishes,
Hans

Why didn't I think of the obvious!
But it would be useful if Adobe did list the update issue number ... pointless sending them a message though.
