FileSearchy -what does "Match" mean?

Post by uncle »

Can't find answer on 'Net. At first I thought it might mean the line in the file where the word is, but not so. Can someone let me know, please. Thank you

Thanks. I have replaced the Word attachment with the screenshot that it contained.

It does look like the Matches pane displays the instances of the search string in the selected document. If the numbers are not the line numbers, could they occur in the document itself?
Best wishes,
Hans

Thank you, Hans. Couldn't figure out how to do that, thus my delay in answering. (How do you do that??)

No, the Match numbers don't relate to anything in the file.

These Match numbers occur whenever I use FileSearchy. And, clicking on Full Line option doesn't do anything.

I right-clicked the screenshot in the Word document and selected 'Save as Picture' from the context menu.
Then I attached the picture.

Could the numbers be the position in the document, i.e. the first occurrence is 116 characters from the start of the document, and the second occurrence 196 characters?
Best wishes,
Hans

Thank you for the 'lesson.'

No, that doesn't work. How is Match supposed to work?

I'm afraid I don't know - I don't have FileSearchy myself.

Perhaps there are other Loungers who use FileSearchy - I hope they'll contribute.
Best wishes,
Hans
