Another thought. My PC has built in Bluetooth. If yours does, you could quickly hook up a Bluetooth speaker. Obviously, not ultra high quality sound, but my wife and I use one to listen to BBC iPlayer videos and it's definitely better than the built in speakers. This is what we use.

As I mentioned, I can access the audio either by using the two external speakers or the earphones as the need arises independent of the monitor so I need not purchase the appropriate cables that connect the computer to the monitor HDM ports. The literature that came with the TV is -to say the least - rubbish and difficult to follow so I'll ascertain the model and serial number from the rear of the set and then search on line in the hope that there is a page that explains all the button functions of the remote.
