Windows Media Player 9 - add music (mp3) files

Post by uncle »

Hi -

Cannot figure out how to add to Playlist. I have music on CD as well as downloaded contents to Desktop (created c:\Audio Folder). but cannot figure out how to add the entire list. I tried to copy/paste into New Playlist window, but that didn't work....

Found no info on Web that I understand, sorry to say.

Thank you.

(I also can't figure out how to be notified of automatic updates)

Library | Add to Library (F3 takes you directly to the Add to Library dialog) select the folders you want to manually add or monitor | OK, let the process run, optionally close teh window, leave Media Player open and let the add process complete.

See for example Windows Media Player 9: How To Make A New Playlist? for step-by-step instructions.

The options for updates are in the Player tab of Tools | Options...
Best wishes,
Hans

Thank you, Gents -

Hans, Tools/Options doesn't allow you to uncheck the Automatic Update options, as far as I can determine.

On one version of WMP there use to be an option to play one song after another - can't find that in WMP 9. Can you help me out on that, too.

Thanks!

To disable automatic updates entirely requires a registry hack. See How can I enable or disable automatic updates in Windows Media Player? - there's both a do-it-yourself instruction and a fix-it-for-me tool.

What exactly do you mean by "an option to play one song after another"? If I select multiple files, they *are* played one after another.
Best wishes,
Hans

Under Library options there was an item "Play all items on double click." Even though I couldn't find that choice in WMP 9, I double'clicked and the songs did play one after another. (Thanks for your patience, Hans)

Thanks for pointing me to the site re automatic updates.

You may have had repeat or shuffle turned on, Ctrl-T and Ctrl-H respectively toggle these on and off.
