Merge PDF Files?

Post by sobershea »

I want to be able to merge two PDF files or append to an existing PDF file and wonder if any of you have experience with a free utility that will do this. I have been looking online and found all sorts but would rather use something that others have found acceptable. I even found one where the merging is done online but wonder about putting important data "out there", even though the web site claims to delete the files once merged. Any input would be appreciated.

TIA
Sherry

I'm going to reply to my own post This is what I found in case anyone else wants to merge PDF Files:
  • If your data isn't sensitive you can use an online PDF file merger http://www.mergepdf.net/; this did the job quite nicely and the site says the files are removed after the merge.
  • If you would rather not do the merging in the clouds, Foxit PDF Editor http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/editor/ also does the job but the software is an unlimited evaluation copy and prints "evaluation copy" at the top of each page. If you are using this for personal use only, it will also do the job.
  • PDFill http://www.pdfill.com/was the product I liked the best. You get a PDF Editor, PDF Writer and a slew of PDF Tools including the ability to merge and split PDF files.
All of the above are :free:

A more versatile solution would be to use the pdf toolkit http://www.accesspdf.com/pdftk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which lets you merge, extract, etc pages from a non-password protected pdf file. It's also free.
