Drive Image 7 Error Message
I recently reduced the size of Drive 0's partion and enlarged Drive 1 by using Acronis. Everything went smoothly and I am able to boot with without issues.
If I try to take an image (using Drive Image 7) of my "C Drive: Drive 0" I receive the following error message. I have no challenges taking an image of the "D Drive: Drive 1". I have tried Defragging the drive but to no avail.
Any ideas? Searching the internet was not much help.
Thanks,
John

Re: Drive Image 7 Error Message
Try doing a chkdsk of drive C:
To do this type chkdsk /f at a command prompt and answer Y to the prompt. Then reboot.
To do this type chkdsk /f at a command prompt and answer Y to the prompt. Then reboot.
C:\Users\StuartR>chkdsk /f
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) Y

Re: Drive Image 7 Error Message
What operating system are you running, and are you sure that this version of Windows is supported by Drive Image 7?
Edited by StuartR to add
Searching for +"drive image 7" +0xE0BB0004 returned a couple of hits that suggest this error might be fixed by the 7.03 update to drive image, which you can download from here

Re: Drive Image 7 Error Message
Stuart,
Thanks for the link to the update. Unfortuantely after applying the update I am still encountering the same error message.
I believe the issue started after I used Acronis to resize my C Drive (as stated in the early part of the thread). Is it possible the Acronis does something to the FAT or MBR? The reason I'm going down this road is the everything worked fine until I used Acronis.

John

I guess it's possible.jstevens wrote:...Is it possible the Acronis does something to the FAT or MBR?...
You haven't said what operating system you are using, so we can check that this is supported by Drive Image 7, which is (I think) quite an old product.

Re: Drive Image 7 Error Message
The Operating System I'm using is XP. I have been using Drive Image 7 for a number of years so I know it is compatible with XP. They have a version for XP and NT. Yes it is an old product but has been working just fine until I introduced Acronis True Image.
I tried booting from the TI CD and believe it or not, it cannot find the drive. I'm puzzled. I can boot up XP just fine: all installed software appears to be functioning well.

John

Re: Drive Image 7 Error Message
I'm a little puzzled. You mentioned in your first post that you resized the two drives using Acronis. I assumed you meant Acronis Disk Doctor, not Acronis True Image. If you tried to resize with True Image, then that's your problem alright. True Image is NOT meant to manipulate drive sizes but to create images of existing drives for use as backup or restoring entire drives to their prior state.jstevens wrote:The Operating System I'm using is XP. This is particularly true if you tried to resize using an older version of TI.
What version did you use to attempt the resize?

Re: Drive Image 7 Error Message
I used Acronis Disk Director Suite to change the partition size. From what I can gather, Acronis DDS will enable one to resize partitions leaving software in working order.

I have had and used Acronis Disk Director successfully for a number of years, as well as Acronis True Image.
It just seemed that you used the two interchangeably in your posts.

Re: Drive Image 7 Error Message
It appears that I used a older version of Acronis on a SATA drive and they don't play well together. The only recourse I have is to reformat the drive and start all over. Oh Joy!

Oh dear! Can you at least copy your critical files so you don't lose anything important.

Re: Drive Image 7 Error Message
***Edited to include resolution***
I do have copies of files so that's a good thing....
This is a good lesson for those who are not backing up...better start now then face the consequences later on.
*Resolution: Reformatted the drive using a program named "Kill Disk", booted to the CD and wiped the drive clean. I was able to restore the drive images of both partitions and as they say, "Life is Good".
