Items in Sent Items shows up beige

When I go to my Sent Items in Outlook, I see a list of all of my sent emails and responses to calendar invitations. Everything listed is white, with the exception of a form that I sent (under New Items | More Items | Choose Form ...). That items, in the list of items sent, shows up beige. Why is it beige and can this be changed?
