How to add?

Post by Ted Myers »

Hello, I have various accounts. 2=Hotmail one for email only & one as a Windows Live ID.
1-Live.co.uk + 4 Gmail accounts all email only.
I was having access problems with one Hotmail account (incessant confirmation requests) so I deleted it. My other Hotmail has 25gb for my Onedrive, so I keep it.
Much the same happened with live.co.uk but my plan to replace it failed. When I tried to add my brand new gmail account, I got Error Code 0x80070490
I can add any gmail account except my new one. I have been using it all afternoon and compared the account settings of my other accounts.

Searching the error code was unhelpful.

If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

Do you use two-factor authentication for your Gmail account?
Best wishes,
Hans

Hello Hans,
All 4 gmail accounts have:- phone sign in - off, 2 step verify - off, phone recovery - on, email recovery - on.
2 of them have Security question + answer set.
I can't use 2FA as I don't have a smart phone.

After posting the above, I looked closer at the error code search in Google and found this.
Open Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features
Scroll down to Mail
Select it
Click Advanced options
Click Reset

Restart
It now works.
Thanks again Hans.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

A smartphone is not the only way to use 2FA. One alternative is to use a YubiKey which can display the second factor on a Windows, Linux, or Mac app for you.

Hello StuartR, I came across a YubiKey recently but got confused. Will try it if it does not conflict with LastPass.
Just used your link, and I only have a Debit card which has never been accepted for online purchases.

LastPass has built in support for YubiKey, to authorize access to its password vault.

Yes that reminds me where I found it. Will look on PC World & Argos to see if the stock it.
