New Tab Chrome

Post by Dave Davison »

I have somehow inadvertently allowed Google Chrome (new tab) to squat in my start up menu but for the life of me can't purge it out as it does not appear in "Revo Uninstaller". seeing I am quite happy with Firefox how do I get rid of the former please other than performing a System Restore to some date prior to when it appeared? :thankyou: Dave.

Does Chrome appear in the Programs and Features control panel?
Best wishes,

It's a bit hard to see, but that doesn't look like the Google Chrome logo, more like the Chromium logo. Chromium is a different browser that shares many features with Google Chrome but isn't the same.
Can you find anything resembling Chromium in the Programs and Features control panel or in Revo Uninstalller?
Best wishes,
Hans

...................Hans, the second screen shot in my previous post shows absolutely nothing like Chrome in the alphabetic list in Progs & Features & likewise nothing in Revo. Just entered msconfigregedit in the "Search" bar and -hey presto- Chromium is listed in the "Startup" list so I've unticked the box and will see what happens. Thanks Dave.

Isn't Chromium listed under "The Chromium Project" or similar in Programs and Features and Revo Uninstaller?

Hans

Apparently, Chromium isn't installed the way most programs are.
Try searching your hard disk for chromium.exe.
If you find it, you can safely delete that file. If the folder you found it in is named Chromium or similar, you can delete the entire folder.
Best wishes,
Hans
