Firefox 8.0.1 F6 function key

Post by paulreynolds »

Hello techies!
I am using V8.0.1 (not my choice, and not the latest, I know), and can't seem to get the F6 key to jump to the URL address bar.

Is this a new feature of Firefox, or, perhaps, has the local system here been neutered?
Not a big deal; it just means a slight upset in my keyboarding habits.

Welcome to Eileen's!

"F6 key doesn't work anymore" applies to a much older version, but suggests:
Try F6 and then Tab. F6 focuses the topmost element in the browser, which is the tabbar when tabs are on top.

Welcome to Eileen's Lounge!

F6 is "move to next frame".
The keyboard shortcuts to activate the address bar are Alt+D and Ctrl+L.
Best wishes,
Hans

F6 does work for me, and it does seem (to me) to depend on whether on not you have Tabs on top!

(See also does ff4 support press 'F6' to set focus in address bar? if not 'F6', change which key in this version? | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help)

Thank you HansV.
Coupled with Leif's suggestions I now have 3 ways to access the url address strip, whereas before I knew only one.
