Re: FireFox 8
Two add-on incompatibilities found were
Google Toolbar
Open Download
Both fixed with the install.rdf file change. I bumped mine up to version 9 for now.
Worked fine.

Re: FireFox 8
As I pointed out under Viking's post announcing TB8, no doubt there will be many sites offering something other than a genuine copy of FF8 so if you don't use the main Mozilla site (http://www.mozilla.org/) think before you download.

If you already have Firefox, you can use the built-in update mechanism.

I just got the on-screen notice and have downloaded but not yet installed.
Those bits about not allowing 3rd party software to add stuff can be good and bad. We'll have to see how that one goes.

Re: FireFox 8
Look, I admit I know nothing about .net but when I installed 8.0 just now, this is what it showed:
Am I gonna get in trouble browsing and not be warned about it? It's kinda like AdBlock Plus. Sometimes a page won't render and by trial and error I've learned that lots of those are because of that addon. I disable it, render the page and then re-enable it. What about these three?

Re: FireFox 8
If you play Java-based games like GloriaE (aka Duchess843) does, you'll have problems. Otherwise it's not very likely that you'll miss Java, and anyway I'm sure there will be a compatible update for Java soon.
I have yet to encounter a website that needs the .NET Framework.

Re: FireFox 8
The Java console and Java Quick Starter add-ons are not required for Java to work, sites that use Java will still work even if those 2 are disabled. The .NET Framework Assistant add-on does very little, it adds ClickOnce support. I have none of those 3 add-ons installed.

Re: FireFox 8
Thanks - I didn't know that Java still works even if the Java Console doesn't.

Re: FireFox 8
Yeah, thanks Tony! I'm glad Mozilla has done what they did in this version. I didn't have ANY trouble with any of my other addons. They all still work, including my infamous and favorite CopyURL.
