Firefox 6.0.2 and 3.6.22 released

Post by HansV »

Now that the Dutch government has decided not to use DigiNotar certificates any more, Mozilla has released updated versions in which the exception for Dutch government certificates from DigiNotar has been removed (see DigiNotar Removal Follow Up).

You can get the new versions through the automatic built-in update feature, or from http://mozilla.org/firefox" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for 6.0.2 / http://mozilla.org/firefox/all-older.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for 3.6.22.
Best wishes,
Hans

Why should I update just to get that? Version 6.0.1 is working, so give me one good reason I should update.

I assume that you don't deal with Dutch government websites on a daily basis, so there is no pressing need for you to update.
Best wishes,
Hans

Gloria, while the probability of this affecting you is almost negligible, there are good reasons to install this update. It is a security vulnerability update and these should always be installed. This vulnerability does not affect only users of the Dutch government sites, but also users of Google (see here) and other popular sites. There is also an out-of-cycle update from Microsoft Windows Update (KB2607712) that you should apply to protect yourself from this vulnerability. If you use other browsers such as Chrome, check to see if they have issued updates.

Paul

Yeah Gloria, my feeling with something of MAJOR use like a browser that we all use EVERY day, if the publisher issues an update, I'm gonna install it, just for the safety net of it.

That isn't true with all software, but my browser is my "life" so to speak, so if Mozilla deems it necessary to publish an update, I install it!
