Ad blocking

Post by silverback »

I've received a message from another forum I subscribe to asking me to switch off ad blocking.
I trust this forum so am prepared to do this, but I can't find any reference to ad blocking in Firefox.

Is there ad blocking in Firefox and, if so, how can I turn it off, please?

Thanks
Silverback

As far as I know, Firefox does not have a built-in ad blocker. There are add-ons that provide this, e.g. AdBlock Plus, and if you have the NoScript add-on installed, it will block many ads simply because they use script. So check your add-ons.

But of course, it could simply have been a generic request sent to all forum members.
Best wishes,
Hans

I too am not aware of any native ad-blocking within FF but I'm still on v3.6.18 and v5 is current. However, I think that the first thing that most people with even half an ounce of knowledge do with FF is to install Adblock Plus and then never think about ads ever again. Perhaps that is why your other forum is asking you to turn off ad blocking.

Personally I'd never trust anybody requiring me to view ads :flee: but each to his own.

Thanks, Hans and Ken.

Which "filter" are you (all) using?

Knowing no better I selected the first suggestion, "EasyList(English)".

I seem to be subscribed to 'EasyList(USA)' and 'Fanboy's List (English)'.

I can find EasyList(English) in the drop-down box, but I can't seem to find EasyList(USA). How can I subscribe to that?

Hi Paul.
That might have been a blunder on my part, but I can't get the AddOn to recognize its Options button (just another problem today ...)
