Displaying Images
Firefox seems to have a problem displaying images in a forum I use (fishtanks!) The problem appears to be with images uploaded using Photobucket and is intermittent. The image instead of being displayed is replaced with the word 'image'. When I right click the word 'image' I get the option to reload but this only works for that instance. I also get the option to block images from Photobucket, if I do this then undo the action then all images appear but the problem returns later.
I have looked through the options tabs but I can't find anything which helps.
Any tips please?
Thanks
Graeme

Re: Displaying Images
Does the problem occur only in Firefox? Have you tried visiting the forum using Internet Explorer?
Best wishes,

Re: Displaying Images
Perhaps an add-on in Firefox causes the problem. You could run Firefox in Safe Mode and disable add-ons to see if the problems go away - see Safe Mode.
Best wishes,

Re: Displaying Images
Tried it using safe mode but the same problem is still there.
If I right click the word 'image' and then click Image properties the size of file is reported as Unknown (not cached)
Don't know if that is a clue?

Re: Displaying Images
My guess is either:
1. The web page is poorly written and the images aren't there to send, or
2. Your firewall might be preventing the images from coming in.
Your mileage may vary...
Oooppss - it works in ie - disregard please <sigh>

Re: Displaying Images
Sorry, no idea. Perhaps the Mozilla experts will have a suggestion.
In the meantime, I'd use Internet Explorer.

Re: Displaying Images
Thanks for your input Bob. Do you have an image in your signature?
Seems returning to IE is the way forward. Thanks for your time anyway Hans.

Just curious if you can't see Bob's image in his sig.Graeme wrote:Thanks for your input Bob. Do you have an image in your signature?
Are you "allowing" image display in Firefox Options? (see attached)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Displaying Images
You can try the troubleshooting options in the Images or animations do not show article on the Mozilla knowledge base. There is a similar article on the mozillazine knowledge base, Images or animations do not load, that may also assist.

Presenting - The Fish Tank Forum
Be sure to check out my Picture of the Month for last November while you're there!
I thought my problem might be something to do with my firewall so I have un-installed Zone Alarm and installed the Sygate Personal Firewall which I have used in the past. I don't much like the new version of Zone Alarm since it tells you nothing about what your computer is connected to. Trouble is Sygate can't cope with multiple logons on the same computer so I will have to find something else.
While I was at it, I un-installed AVG and installed Microsoft Security Essentials as per Hans' recommendation in Rudi's thread!

Thanks for the links TonyE. I've worked through them to the point of the limit of what I understand. The warning of dragons is quite funny! Still to no avail.
Thanks for everyone's time. I think I'll stick with IE.

Re: Displaying Images
I went to the forum and didn't want to needlessly register, so it would only let me do five "looks." However, in that short sample I WAS able to see images attached to posts.Graeme wrote:Presenting - The Fish Tank Forum

If you still can't see BobL's signature photo as well, it has to be something in your Firefox settings. Given that you do OK in IE, I would think the problem is not your AV or firewall.
Unless you're fed up with it, you might try creating an additional profile in Fx using its default settings and see if that works.

Re: Displaying Images
Thanks Big Al. I'll stick with IE. I only went to Firefox because IE was running painfully slow. But having recently done malware scans it's better now.
The 5 only views is supposed to encourage people to register. I'm not too sure the strategy is sound! Give it a go, you would be most welcome!
