New Browser Tab

Post by Bigaldoc »

This is in Firefox BUT only in Windows 7.

When I open a new tab in Firefox while running under Windows 7, I get a screen full of small "windows" of sites I've evidently been to in recent times.

Somehow I thought I remembered how that happened and that I turned off whatever "feature" it is... But obviously my memory is weak.

Does anyone know what causes this behavior and how to turn it off, please?

There's an icon in the upper right corner of the new tab page that toggles the display of visited pages on/off:

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Best wishes,

Hi Al, go to your home page, copy & paste the address into notepad, type about:config in FF & promise to be careful. Copy/paste browser.newtab.url in the search box. Right click browser.newtab.url and select modify, then paste your home page address in the box.
Now your home page will be displayed when a new tab is opened.
Windows 11 Home 22H2

Regards,
George.

Thanks for that tip, it's a good one to remember. But, I'm satisfied with an empty window 'cause I usually immediately load something, typically Google since I have my Google bookmark set to a shortcut of "G"

To Hans: After reading your tip, I did notice that the icon of which you spoke IS also present in XP. So, it's clear to me that it's a Firefox thread and not Windows 7. Mebbe you would consider moving this thread to Firefox, especially in light of Roderunner's additional tip.

Thanks both...

OK, I have moved the thread from the Windows 7 forum to the Mozilla Firefox forum.
