Firefox 13 and google
My Firefox updated to 13.0.1 this morning and since then, Google, which I have set as my homepage is only displaying machine code, complete garbage and any search I do using the search box on the toolbar with Google also displays only garbage. I can, however, search using Yahoo or Bing or any of the other search engines and all is fine. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox and rebooting and forcing a page reload. I'm also able to ping Google and I can see Google properly in Internet Explorer. Attached is a screen shot of what I am seeing.

Re: Firefox 13 and google
First, see if the problem goes away if you clear Firefox's cache, and if you restart your computer.
If not, enter about:config in the address bar in Firefox and press Enter.
Enter network.http.accept-encoding in the search box and press Enter.
Right-click the network.http.accept-encoding entry and select Reset from the context menu.

Best wishes,

Thanks Hans. I won't be in the office again till Tuesday but I will try those things. I did clear the cache and restart the computer. I forgot to mention that stuff in the original email.

Re: Firefox 13 and google
I'm not familiar with the recommendation from Hans, but if that doesn't yield any help...
What if you were to temporarily change your home page to some other link. Then, if that produces a good result, try going to the Google Advanced Search page to see if it loads correctly. I ask because I'm wondering if Firefox somehow has garbled your homepage link.
http://www.google.com/advanced_search" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

1 minute with Hans is worth 10 hours on your own. That fixed the problem. As always, thanks so much. When I find the Nobel Prize of technology bulletin boards, you will be nominated, Hans.
