Reserved error (-1524); there is no message for this error
The database has recently been upgraded from access 2002 to access 2007.
Now when the users use the db the error message displays "Reserved error (-1524); there is no message for this error"
The error occurs on an SQL query.
Ive googled and its returned that a record is corrupt.
Ive retreived backups in 2002 & 2007 before any conversion upgrade code to 2007 was done. The same error message displays.
Ive applied some suggestions from google without any progress.
Ive performed a word mail merge using the data and the merge was successful. the data records all look clean ie no chinese symbols. or funny characters to indicate corrupt records
Any tips on how to clean up the data records in the database so the users may use the access database.
How do I know which record is the corrupt record?
many thanks
dd
for this link "...It looks like there was
corrupt data in the table being queried. As soon as I isolated and removed

how do you isolate and remove the corrupt data?

Have you tried to compact and repair the database? Click the Office button, then click Manage in the navigation pane on the left. Compact and Repair Database is the first item in the right-hand pane.
If there is a problem, Access will create a table named CompactErrors; this table will tell you which records are corrupted.

Thanks Hans
yes i performed the following:
1. Compact & Repair on the db. the result it reduced the db size to approx half. however the error still occured
2. created a brand new db & manually copied each table & object across. as I was doing this the error message displayed
3. checked all the tables & records. to see if a corrupt record displayed funny characters eg chinese characters - no luck in locating a record
4. retrieved backups from XP
I didnt know about a new table being created with CompactErrors. Ill look out for it - thanks Hans

I'm afraid it's impossible to know what causes the problem without seeing (a copy of) the database...

quick update...i was going through each table & checking each record. I managed to track the corrupt record. it displayed as funny characters ie chinese characters - see screen capture
i selected this record, deleted this record, saved the db.
clicked on the button - which runs the SQL query & error is now cleared and functions correctly.
many thanks for your help Hans
