Look Up Country name from excel sheet without opening the masterlist

My geuss is that Getobject would still be a bit slower than a simple closed workbook referrence for geting simple values from a moderate sized range.. But I don't have enough experience with the two methods on real data to be sure.

Some time back, when I first started I got a lot of help with advanced stuff to get at large amounts of simple value data from various large files of different file types, or to just get at some data from those files.
Later I played around with the idea of putting all the data in one or a small number of Excel files, which I kept closed and then used the stuff I explained in my first two posts here to get at data from it. Usually it worked a lot quicker. I think the closed workbook reference way is a bit under used, perhaps.
