Dropdowns on repeated values.

Post by BittenApple »

Hello all,

I have been working with dropdowns. I don't have any problems with creating them and making them to be dependent on each other. But on the The Dropdown which is built from column c, I have two entries for all rows. That creates problems in name manager when I want to create a name for each range, because type and network are same for all rows. What is the work around it? I hope this makes sense. :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:

Regards,
bita

If the choices will be Network and Group regardless of the selections in the first two drop-downs, why would you need different names?

Hello Hans,

Network/ group is also a dropdown (Third dropdown) and it depends on the second one and second one is dependent on the first one. I didn't insert a dropdown for Network/ group since I was very busy with a project so, I didn't insert the third dropdown.

Respectfully,
Bitta

If the third drop-down should offer Network and Group as options, it is not dependent on the first two, so you only need a single range as source.

Hello Hans,

Thanks for the response.
It offers Network and Group but it should be dependent on the second dropdown. If I want to consider the third dropdown independent, then fourth dropdown should be dependent on the second and first through third dropdown, or I can't get the answer I want.

bitten

Hello Hans,
I have modified the workbook.
The third dropdown which has the entries of group and network should be dependent on the second dropdown. The Fourth dropdown is depended on third dropdown.

Third dropdown is not by itself, it is a dependent dropdown.

Hope this makes sense.

Bita

I still see only the choices Network and Group regardless of the choices in the first two drop-downs.

Hello Hans,

I added the third dropdown and that is depended on the second. Please open the attached. I wonder how I can connect the third to fourth.

The setup for the third drop-down is still overkill. The items are always Group and Network. They do not depend on the choice in the second drop-down.

Please EXPLAIN what the items in the fourth drop-down should be in each situation.
Best wishes,
Hans
