Multiple selections in filter dropdown list

Post by matthewR »

Is there a way (when you filter on a column) to select more than one choice? Say I have Western, Central, National, Senior as selections in column A and want to filter Central, National and Senior at the same time. Is there a way to do this - a macro?

You can only select 2 with the filter using the OR.

You can choose not equal to Western to get the 3 of the 4 (use can NOT select 2 items with the AND)

If you have other combinations it may be better to make new column to filter on, create a list of items, and then use in the new column a formula with MATCH....

Which version of Excel are you using? In Excel 2007 and later you can select any combination of choices:

I am using Excel 2003. We will be changing to 2007 in the near future. Thanks for the help.

Another option in Excel 2003 or earlier is to use Advanced Filter:

Is there a way to get the original data back once you use advanced filter?

Yes: select Data | Filter | Show All.
