Conditional formatting

Post by Karat »

Hi all
I'm having a blonde moment :sad:

3 columns
Number - Due date - Yes or No
I want the pattern of the number (column A) to be coloured when the answer in column 3 is No and the due date (column B) is expired.

It should be simple using conditional formatting but it just won't work.

Thanks heaps for your help

This certainly should be simple with conditional formatting.

The condition (for cell A5) should be something like
=AND(B5<TODAY(),C5="No")

You may need to make this more sophisticated if you need to check that B5 is a date, or if C5 could be no.

You probably knew this, and it's implicit in Stuart's reply, but you need to select 'Formula Is' in the first dropdown in the Conditional Formatting dialog (Excel 2003 or before), or to select ''Use a formula to determine which cells to format' in the New Formatting Rule dialog (Excel 2007 or later).
Best wishes,
Hans
