Some years ago, I posted a simple Word add-in in Woody's Lounge that lets you set up to three positions in a Word document and go back to them at any time.
It was designed for Word 97-2003 but it works in Word 2007 too, with the custom toolbar added to the Add-Ins tab of the ribbon.
Perhaps some of you may still find it useful, so I decided to repost it here.
If you drop Locations.dot from the zip file into your Word startup folder, it will be loaded automatically with Word. If you don't want to use it, simply delete it or move it out of Word's startup folder.
