In 2007 does anyone know where autocorrect entries are stored?
on the web it mentions autocorrect entries are stored in normal.dot.
however I just created an autocorrect entry, exited Word. and checked normal.dotm changes in location and there was no saved changes to my normal.dotm. Which means its not saved in normal.dotm
C:\Documents and Settings\<userName>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dotm
any ideas
many thanks

Re: Word 2007 where are autocorrect entries stored?
I saw this post
It mentions the autocorrect is available in "ALL Office applications share the same AutoCorrect lists, not just Word and Access."
http://www.eileenslounge.com/viewtopic. ... ect#p20823" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I understand that its shared across apps
perhaps our environment doesnt cater for this as
ive just tested and it doesnt appear to be the case
in Word I created an autocorrect entry
word session still open
checked Outlook and excel, under Office button, Options, Proofing, AutoCorrect Options...
the newly added autocorrect didnt display in the list, and when i typed the autocorrect.
I then closed Word , again checked outlook & excel still no autocorrect entry exists
when I re-opened Word my newly created autocorrect entry didnt display.
note: my 2 new autocorrect entries have the setting "formatted text, and one entry is an image logo, the other formatted text.
In Outlook I created a formatted autocorrect entry. its available in outlook. however not available in Word.
so now I have 3 questions:
1. where are autocorrect entries stored?
formatted autocorrect entries in normal.dotm
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\normal.dotm
plain autocorrect entries in .acl files
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>Application Data\Microsoft\Office\MSO3081.acl
2. why arent the autocorrect entries saved?
ie create in one session of word, close word the entries dont appear
3. why arent the autocorrect entries shared amongst the other office applications?
I'm not sure if this is due to our environment, or a microsoft limitation...further research required

Re: Word 2007 where are autocorrect entries stored?
update...
the normal.dotm wasn't being saved.
If I add a new autocorrect entry and exited Word, the message "Do you want to save Normal.dotm.." didnt display, and the date and time stamp of normal.dotm was not updated.
I discovered it was related to a corrupt add-in. Adobe PDF Maker Office COM add-in. see screen capture
Ive Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard installed.
Ive performed a google search and apparently there were issues with Adobe Acrobat 7 (the earliest versions) that caused problems with Word saving its normal template.
Once I disabled the add-in the it was performing correctly
ie new formatted autocorrect entries were saved to the normal.dotm template

Not surprising...diana wrote:Ive Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard installed.

Adobe explicitly state that Acrobat 7 is NOT compatible with Office 2007, see the last sentence of the 'What's covered' section of this Adobe KB article
