Systematic Approach to Word Problems

Post by Don Wells »

I am a fan of Phil Rabichow's Systematic approach to common Word problems, but the latest info which I have refers only to Word 2002 and 2003.

Is anyone aware of the applicability/pitfalls of this approach when using Office 2007?
Regards
Don

The basic steps described in Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word still apply to Word 2007, with the following modifications:
  • In SECOND STEP: the name of the default template for Word 2007 is Normal.dotm instead of Normal.dot.
  • In THIRD STEP: you can manage both Word add-ins and COM Add-ins from Office Button > Word Options > Add-ins.
  • In FOURTH STEP: the path of the Data registry value has been messed up in the Windows Secrets Lounge thread. For Word 2007, it should be
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data
  • I don't think there is an equivalent of the Work menu in Word 2007.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Hans

Hi Dave, the original post is on the Windows Secrets Lounge. Since its author Phil Rabichow hasn't joined Eileen's Lounge, we can't just copy the entire post here.
Best wishes,
Hans
