Scanned Document Into Excel Sheet

HI anyone,

Is it possible to convert a scanned document image into a excel sheet?

Any help on this would be kindly appreciated.

If you have suitable OCR software, it may be possible to obtain text that could be copied or imported into a spreadsheet, but it would depend on the OCR output and the suitability of the resulting format.

Alternatively, you could simply insert the scan as a picture into the worksheet.

Adam, this is nigh on impossible due to the complexity of the grid format of Excel. This blog sums up the issues quite eloquently

As already indicated, if all you want is a picture of the document in your workbook then that's straightforward. To capture the contents of the scan and get that into an Excel sheet in one step is almost certainly a none starter.

How about first using an OCR scan to get the doc into Word. You will have to edit the scan but Word is designed to handle text so it shouldn't be hard to work the raw scan into a neat table. Once you've done that you can then copy & paste the table from Word to Excel. Finally in Excel you can add any formulae you need.

What is contained on/in the "Document"?

If it a hardcopy of a spreadsheet, then most any REAL OCR program should be able to scan and OCR it into a spreadsheet.
I use OmniPage Pro and have done many a hardcopy spreadsheet into Excel.
