Office 2010 Updates Via Windows Update Fail

Win 7 / 32 bit (upgraded from Vista)

Every time Windows Updates runs and there are Office (2010) updates, they fail (all of them). I then need to go to the Microsoft Download Center and download and install each one individually. When I go through that process for each update, each one installs properly.

The issue occurs only when Windows Update attempts to install them.

It's really only an annoyance but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Can you find out what the error codes are? (They should be listed in C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log and in the Event log)

I've zipped up the Windows Update log and have attached it herewith.

Perhaps you can make some sense out of it. I did a search in the text file for "Office" but I don't understand what I'm seeing.

One of the error codes in the log is 646. There is an automated fix for this error: Error code "0x80070646," "646," or "1606" when you try to install Office updates. See if that helps. If it doesn't, there are other things we can try.

I got brave and installed the automated fix.

Now I have to wait for future Office updates or is there another, more immediate, way I can see if the fix worked?

No, unless you'd be willing to uninstall some office updates and see what happens. But I'd wait until January 11...
