Office 2010 Reliability

Post by RonH »

Still a bit of a novice with this 2010 programme, but I am finding that it 'ceases up' (whiteish screen etc) quite often. Always comes back but is this something other users are noticing? This occurs in Word and XL mostly.
Any advice on how to solve  ... I (still) use Vista

I've not noticed that behavior.

What other programs do you have running?

What are your machine specifications?

What Vista service pack is installed? Is Vista up-to-date with patches?

Thanks for your replies.
After sending this request, I took another 'look at myself' :groan: I reckon my problem is finger trouble ... for some reason, once I have set the Print Area in (say) Excel I had it seems been clicking somewhere outside the print area and then thought 'better do a save'. At this time it goes 'toes up' with whited screen before it makes a recovery. I think I have been confusing the 'little folk' inside.
Can you duplicate this by setting Print Area/click ouside/Save?

The pc itself is fully up to date and with sufficient grunt spare for Office 2010. I also use Adobe Photoshop (which really needs some grunt!) and this works OK ... don't have this prog open of course when using Office big time.

I get this when I save a large workbook to our network or directly onto a USB drive. The 'white screen' lasts about 2 seconds then all is well again.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it is taking a long time to return to normal.

Kevin Bell

You might also check to see if you have any network shares that Word and Excel are trying to see and cannot find. That has been reported as a common issue with all recent versions of Office.
