Updates to Office 2016 in the beginning of August 2017 broke MSCOMCTL32.OCX, the file that provides controls such as the TreeView and ListView controls.
For the click-to-run versions of Office 2016/Office 365, this has been fixed in build 8326.2087. It will be rolled out automatically next week (the week of August 28, 2017), but it is already available through File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
For the installer (MSI) version of Office 2016, the fix is provided by August 22, 2017, update for Office 2016 (KB4011093).
