Media player selection

For no apparent reason when I insert a DVD to play and want to set the player to VLC the tick box to make it the default player is greyed out. Any suggestions as to how to make this option available please?

Your dialog is not the AutoPlay dialog for a DVD but the Open With dialog for a file.

Try this:

Open "My Computer".
Right-click on the DVD drive that you want to set the auto-playback for.
Select "Properties" in the popup menu.
Activate the "Autoplay" tab.
From the drop-down list, select "DVD movie".
Click the "Select an action to perform:"
Select "Play DVD movie using VideoLAN VLC media player" in the list (*).
Click "OK".

(*) If there is no option "Play DVD movie using VideoLAN VLC media player" or similar in the list, VLC Player hasn't been fully installed.
