I have a white block that suddenly appeared on my display. How would I go about removing it? I would appear to be a memory issue.
I really don't want to reboot.
Thanks,
John
I tried right clicking on the desktop and selecting "refresh" but that did not do it.How To Get Rid Of White Block

Re: How To Get Rid Of White Block
Have you tried selecting another desktop background picture, or no background picture?
In the end, rebooting might be the way to go.

"I really don't want to reboot."
What is the harm in rebooting?
That can take care of a lot of odd ball troubles.
If it doesn't. well you have one attempt out of the way.

Re: How To Get Rid Of White Block
Hans - I tried your suggestion about selecting another desktop background and it did not work. The white block remains.
Bob - I agree rebooting does take care of alot of problems but it really doesn't explain why or what caused the white block to begin with.
Resolution:
Decided to reboot and started to close applications. Upon closing Excel, the white block went away. Now I know why.
Thanks for your suggestions,
John

Yours is not to reason why, yours is just to do.......etc.
Glad you got it straightened out.

Re: How To Get Rid Of White Block
I have seen this symptom when the computer is short of virtual memory, closing applications until there is sufficient free memory often clears it up.
