I need to reinstall Windows XP Media Center Edition, which I believe to be a variant of XP Pro, on a laptop, and all I have are XP Pro CDs.
Does anyone know if it would be possible to install XP Pro and to use the product key which related to the previous MCE install?
Could XP Media Center Edition be replaced by Pro?

No, the product key for Windows XP MCE won't work with Windows XP Professional. Microsoft considers them to be different versions.
Best wishes,
