increase font size

Currently developing poorer vision so increase the on screen font size by holding the Ctrl key whilst rotating the wheel on the mouse, is it possible to to achieve this result using a combinaton of keys on the keyboard? Dave.

In many browsers, holding down Ctrl and pressing + will increase the zoom percentage, holding down Ctrl and pressing - will decrease it, and pressing Ctrl+0 will reset the zoom to 100%.

If you want to increase font size permanently and in all applications:
- Click the Start button.
- Type font size in the search box, then press Enter.
- Select 'Medium - 125%' or 'Larger - 150%', then click Apply.
You'll probably have to restart Windows.

Many thanks Hans - Ctrl with + is a great function to be aware of, what -if anything- can I do to get the same result when browsing my emails please the font size of which is perhaps only 8 with which I struggle? Regards Dave.

As far as I know, you'll have to use Ctrl+mouse wheel in Outlook; it doesn't have a keyboard shortcut for zooming in or out.

You need to rethink, this action does NOT change the font size, it just zooms in on the window which in turn displays the font to be larger, as well as all other items in the window.

Thanks but I only need the font size increased on screen for viewing purposes, I did realise the increased size is not permanent. For "Outlook" it will have to be the Ctrl plus the mouse wheel. Regards Dave.

When I do presentations on intricate window content at work, esp. when I need to zoom in on something temporarily, I find using the Windows magnifier very convenient. I'm not saying its the best tool for Dave's scenario but since we're on the topic it's worth a mention.

While doing presentations I can quickly and conveniently press [WIN]+[+] to activate the magnifier and then [WIN]+[Escape] to close it again. You can switch between full screen zoom, lens zoom and docked zoom. Dave, if you even need to quickly zoom on something specific on the screen give it a try. An advantage with this feature is that it is always available in any app, anywhere (as it is a Windows level tool).

Yes. While in the mode you can increment the magnification higher and lower with the WIN and plus or minus key combinations. You can also control it from the small magnifier icon on the screen.
