I use Google Calendar to remind me of what to do & when. I downloaded another private email then tried this one.What damage of any type can it cause?

No idea but the notification sounds like something NOT to ignore.

Do a search on the name of the file you downloaded to see what that finds.

I know what the item is. I set G Calendar to remind me by email when its time to do something. I also use Notification settings.

What do you mean by "another private email" and what is "this one" ???

The first email I opened was private, which I usually download to keep it in a safe place pending further action if needed at a later date.
The second one was not private, it was an email reminder of which of 4 garbage bins were to be emptied in my situation, put out on a Monday evening to be emptied by the local councill workers. I have many other preset reminders in Google Calendar

I now know that if I don't click 'Keep'in my image, it won't be downloaded.

Thanks Rebel, I tried to download a Gmail message in Mozilla Firefox and it did so without requiring my permission. I am in process of adding Google Chrome and will try using it. Just finished and it works like FF.

Hello Alex934, welcome to the best forum.
I have 2 laptops but only the newer was affected. I never found a solution but it was cleared when I found updates to install. Everything is now in order.
After checking for updates, open the Advanced section for optional updates.
