For the past twelve years I have been using the board style "ProSilver" and am reluctant to change. I am used to it and am, as you all know, a grumpy old man who loves variety, but hates change.
That said, I am having trouble reading the letter "i" when I want to talk about myself; happens a lot! Also that exc!amatlon mark foo!s me a lot.
I use reading g!asses. ...
I would like to change the font (typeface?) of my view of the Lounge, from what looks to me like a sans-serif Arial, to something with a Serif, like a Times New Roman.
I have read through "New Feature: specify font size (in some skins)" but do not want to increase font size, as, to my mind, this reduces the amount of data on my screen.
It is the serifs I miss.
Is there a means to change the typeface alone without using size, bolding and the like?
My need is greatest in the editing box in which I am currently typing, less so in the Preview, and hardly at all when I am reading posts.
If I can change typeface only by changing board-style, I'll give that a try.
I promise.
Thanks
Chris

Re: Changing Lounge Typeface
You will have to try out the available board styles. It 8s not possible to change the typeface of a style.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Changing Lounge Typeface
Thanks Hans.
Does this mean that the different board styles use different typefaces?
" It's not possible to change the typeface of a style." sounds as if the typeface is fixed for the board style.
I will take a look at each board style.
Cheers
Chris

Re: Changing Lounge Typeface
Darn! and Darn!!
OK, I did a quick tour in User profile and submitted each of the dozen or so profiles on the list. Here is BLACK:- In each profile the text showed up as a sans-serif, never a serif.
From this I deduce that the font for Eileen's Lounge installation of phpBB is set to sans-serif regardless of the board style.
Unless, as happens from time to time, i have misunderstood something.
Thanks
Chris

Re: Changing Lounge Typeface
I have taken a look at the styles that are available for installing on the phpBB3 website. All of them, or at least all the ones that didn't look totally unsuitable for us, use a sans-serif typeface.
Best wishes,
Hans

You can force Firefox to use a specific font:
Result:
But this will affect all websites, of course.

Re: Changing Lounge Typeface
Vivaldi, Too!
Although so far, even with an exit/reload of Vivaldi nothing seems to have changed.
There are multiple layers. Instead of choosing a Font we choose a typeface to represent the generic font "Serif", and I see that Vivaldi assigns what I suppose are "themes" of some sort, so that a displayed page will have a component in "Cursive", for which I have selected TNR. I will go ask the Vivaldi team ...
Perhaps no bad thing, given my eyesight. But this will affect all websites, of course.
Cheers
Chris
