That is a masterful photograph. The light, shadow, color and 'shape' of the composition. The whole thing puts me in mind of the old masters. If I were better educated in the arts I'd name the one it most reminds me of, maybe Albrecht Dürer.

Been a few years since we were there.

Maybe next time I'll pay the ridiculous price to ride the gondola, but probably not.... :laugh:

We did a gondola ride when we first visited Venice. The price was crazy even then. We didn't bother this time, the starting price seemed to be at least €90 for a not very long ride.

We could have used one of the gondola ferries across the Grand Canal, they only seemed to be about €3 per person but we bought a 2 day waterbus travel card and simply hopped on and off as needed. Not as romantic as a gondola mind you...
