Currently I use Avast on W7 ... plus Defender still does 'its thing'.
Reviews of W10 security are reasonably positive about the new Microsoft Defender operating with various browser security features.
Should I continue with Avast after upgrading to W10 or just rely on good practice, Defender and the excellent 'off line' free Malwarebytes
Cheers Ron

Re: How good is Windows 10 Defender
I've been using Windows Defender plus free MalwareyBytes since I switched to Windows 10 in July, and I had been using the same combination on Windows 8.1 before. Never had a single infection (but I'm very cautious when browsing).
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: How good is Windows 10 Defender
Thanks Hans.
I think that I will also trash Avast as soon as I have installed W10 on my maching and rely on the built in Defender and Malwarebytes. My W10 'experience will hopefully commence within a few weeks ... just waiting for the bad weather to start here so that I can 'justify' the time needed
Out of interest I have found this very good:

I have been using Defender on my 8.1 laptop now for about 2 years and now on the W10 machine.

Re: How good is Windows 10 Defender
There are numerous reports of Avast causing problems with Win10. You may want to uninstall Avast immediately after backing up your system and before beginning the upgrade.

Hei Joe ... yes, I plan to remove Avast prior W10 install and then continue with Defender plus Malwarebytes.
